ready to paint!

I love the feeling of starting a new painting. It's so exciting to see what each panel will become. That said, sometimes prep work requires patience. Every now and then, preparing panels can be calming and relaxing, but I've been so itching to paint that prep is just getting in my way. I have to admit though, it's pretty cool to see the transformation. Here's a breakdown:

First, each panel has to be coated several times front and back with gesso, to seal the wood and prepare for paint 

 

A few days later, it's time to start the leafing process!

 

 Finally, time to paint (I've learned to do a few at a time these days so I'm not constantly prepping panels)

 Now I'm ready to see what they'll look like next week...
