I paint skies and atmosphere on a ground of gold or silver leaf, not for the shimmer alone, but because the sky itself is never still. It's always catching light differently, shifting with the hour, the weather, where you happen to be standing when you look up. A flat painted surface can capture a sky once. The leaf underneath mine means the painting keeps doing what the sky does — it changes as the light in the room changes through the day, and it changes again as you move past it, or sit across from it in the evening.
It's not something a photograph can fully show you.
You have to live with it to see it.

It all started when…
I became mesmerized by the ever-changing sky—the way clouds drift, light filters through, and entire moods shift in a moment. The reflective elements in my work echo the shimmer of sunlight through clouds or the silver lining of a fading horizon, adding dimension and a sense of light that changes as you move around the piece.
