I spent my childhood wandering the galleries of the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art captivated by everything from Monet's Water Lillies to the Ming Dynasty canopy bed. It was during those outings with my mother that I first fell in love with art. I was so moved by the artists' interpretations of the world around us that it made me look at my world in a different way.

As an artist, I'm inspired by the ever-changing sky and find that clouds often make their way into my paintings. My work is meant to encourage viewers to reflect on the beauty constantly around us. Though I’d be the first to admit how easy it can be to get lost in day-to-day worries and anxieties, I find great comfort in reflecting on my surroundings and remembering we’re all in this together. During my study of art history, I was struck by notions of the sublime and comforted by the use of art to remind us that we're each one small part of a much larger picture. I hope that through my work viewers are inspired to look at their surroundings in a new way.

Today, after several years spent working in and wandering the museums of Washington, DC and Kansas City, MO, I'm living in Maryland painting and still wandering museums with my husband and three children.
